You diet affects your body as well as your brain

Millions of people all over the world are suffering from mental disorders like anxiety and depression. In some patients, the symptoms of these disorders are controllable while others suffer from acute anxiety necessitating the use of anti anxiety medicines. It has been observed that the effects of these medicines are not similar for all their consumers. Some people get relief from these drugs while others do not seem to get the same outcomes. The reason for this disparity varies from person to person, though, consuming a proper diet can significantly help in showing positive results.

Studies have concluded that foods containing Omega 3 fatty acids like fish oil prevent depression to a certain extent. Consuming a diet containing fatty acids at least twice a week can help controlling depression. Also, treating patients of depression and mood swings with foods rich in Vitamin B12 has made the treatment easy for physicians. Including foods like spinach, salads and avocados in the diet of a person suffering from anxiety may assist the anti depressant medications to show quick results. Some studies have also shown that the deficiency of minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese and potassium has also resulted in depression.

Taking the right amount of vegetables and meat in your diet can help avoiding such mental disorders. Though it may be surprising for many people that a proper diet can reduce the chances of occurrence of mental disorders, it is true and avoiding certain foods will help the anti depressant medication lessen the symptoms. When in a state of depression, a patient of depression should avoid taking beverages like caffeine and alcohol as these will make him feel hyperactive and in such a condition, he can attempt violent acts that can harm him as well as others near him. So eat healthy to remain healthy.
